Tauberschwarz - Slow Food RARE GRAPE red

The Tauberschwarz is an indigenous grape variety from the Tauber and Vorbach valleys in the viticultural region Franconia. The Tauberschwarz was first mentioned in a decree from 1726, Today the Tauberschwarz grapes are pressed to create a light, uncomplicated, fruity red wine with unique bittersweet notes. The production area includes the Tauber Valley and the Vorbach Valley. The Tauberschwarz was thought to be extinct until the last remaining vines were found in 1959. Customers as well as winemakers show growing interest in this vine which is the only vine containing the producing area in its name.
