This wine is made from a Pinot Noir clone, Servagnin de Morges. The Servagnin de Morges vine gives high yields, around 50 hectolitres per hectare. Before harvest, the grapes must reach a ‘Oechsle’ scale sugar level of 82°. Its wine is moderately strong-flavoured, with aromas of red berries and a middle-range level of tannins. This grape type was brought to the Valais Canton (known as Waadt in German) in 1420 by Marie de Bourgogne. Until 1900, this was the dominant Pinot noir clone in the Waadt region. The name Servagnin is linked to the name of the town of Salvagnin, located in the Canton of Valais.
