Planta fina is a white grape from Almedijar and Pedralba (in Almedijar it is called planta fina de Almedijar and, in Pedralba, planta fina de Pedralba). This variety was common previous to the phylloxers epidemic that devastated many of Spain’s vineyards in the 1870s, but today it can only be found in Almedijar (Castellón) and Pedralba (Valencia). It is a productive variety that yields large clusters of medium-sized grapes, whose color turns golden as they mature. Due to its extreme sweetness and its very fine skin, the grapes that matured in very good condition were traditionally dried to make raisins with a very sweet taste, a thin skin, and very few seeds; while those that had a less-than-perfect appearance were destined for wine. Both the raisins and the wine were usually consumed at a household level rather than being sold.

Due to its productivity and sensory characteriostics, planta fina is considered an interesting crop by both farmers and processors. At present, two small wineries, one in each of the localities where the vineyards are located, produce wines that are well-regarded by experts. However, there is a lot of work to be done as the two wineries only recently started operating. In Pedralba, planta fina is made into a varietal wine, and in Almedijar it is mixed with Castellana and sauvignon blanc grapes due to the limited number of planta fina vines.

Planta Fina is a productive, little-known white grape variety that originated in Spain, and today is found in small quantities in Valencia.

Planta Fina yields large clusters of medium-sized sweet grapes that can produce light yet highly aromatic wines. The variety is not only permitted in Valencia's DO wines, it may also be found as a Vino de la Tierra (equivalent of France's Vin de Pays). That said, the variety remains rare and few wines made from Planta Fina or its synonyms are available on the market.

Outside of both Spain and Portugal where hectares have decreased, a little is found in, Italy (hectares have increased, though remain low), France (virtually nonexistant) and South Africa (no actual info available as yet to verify).
