History: Moradella is a rare, indigenous red wine grape grown primarily in the Pavia/Oltrepo Pavese province in Lombardy, Italy, known for producing spicy, high-alcohol, and light-colored wines. Often used in local blends, this late-ripening variety is resistant to heat and drought but susceptible to powdery mildew. It offers delicate, fragrant notes of black pepper, red fruits, and flowers.
The variety is cultivated in the province of Pavia in Lombardy. It used to be one of the most important varieties there, but the population has dwindled considerably. It is probably used incognito in the Oltrepò Pavese DOC wines and in IGT wines. In 2016, only one hectare of vineyard area was designated (Courtesy of https://glossary.wein.plus/ )

Tasting notes: The bouquet on this wine is a peculiar experience not comparable to other wines. The wine is known for its fragrant, spicy notes, specifically black pepper, geranium, tobacco and red fruits, with velvety tannins - very delicate and astounding.
Food pairings: Its traditional, rustic nature pairs well with hearty, traditional Lombard cuisine, particularly fatty, savory dishes that need high acidity to cut through the richness.
