Licinio Fontana, owner of Tenuta La Piccola identified, with some friends, this varietal almost in disuse and, together they decided to  vinify it. The first vintage, in 1974 (bottles of which are still available), was immediately successful, arousing considerable interest by wine experts like Luigi Veronelli
