Fumin RARE GRAPE red

Name stemming from the word ‘fumé’ (smoke) is amongst the oldest recorded in the Val d’Aosta. First appearing in literature in 1785, it almost disappeared in the 20th century only to be replanted in the 1990’s. The smoky film, known as bloom, on the grapes is a naturally occurring substance that protects the grape from moisture loss and decay.
