(Autoctovino has yet to record a producer that cultivates and bottles the wine as a mono-varietal)

Damaschino is a Sicilian grape variety that has lost ground in recent years to Catarratto and Grillo, the island's key white grape varieties. Traditionally, Damaschino has been used in the production of fortified Marsala wines, but it has also commonly been found blended with other white grape varieties on the island to make dry white wines – most commonly Catarratto, with which it makes a straw-colored, fruity wine.

When fortified as Marsala wine, Damaschino can be sweet or dry, depending on the producer’s desired style, but rarely appears in this form on its own – it is usually an understudy to other, more established varieties. A varietal Damaschino wine is permitted under Sicily's little-known Delia Nivolelli DOC, although actual examples are few and far between.

Recent DNA testing has suggested that Damaschino is identical to the Planta Fina de Pedralba grape variety from Spain.

(Though there are numerous producers, few appear to bottle it as a mono-varietal – see below)
