Cjavalgjan RARE GRAPE red

Cjavalgjan is a variety of vine that was cultivated in Friuli in past centuries. After the arrival of diseases such as the peronospera and the oidium from America and the consequent need to treat the vines with copper sulfate, as the leaves of Cjavalgjan were very sensitive they burned and fell. The grapes were hard to ripen and so the variety was progressively abandoned. 30 years ago a gentleman from Nimis made a selection and planted a small vineyard. With modern antiparasitic products you can cultivate it very well. It is a particular red wine with aromas of spices, a dry taste and a discrete durability. It goes well with cheeses and not too tasty meats.
