Cabernet Moravia is a crossing of Cabernet Franc and Zweigelt, used mostly in the Moravia region of the Czech Republic, after which it was named. These red wines are deeply colored and possess supple Cabernet tones on both the nose and palate.
Cabernet Moravia vines grow with high vigor and put out large, dark green leaves with less-pronounced dentations than those of other Cabernet varieties. The grape bunches are typically densely packed and of medium size, but can grow quite large in a good season with a reliable water supply. The grapes themselves are medium sized, with thick, dusty, blue-black skins. These thick skins contribute to the variety's disease resistance, which is particularly important as this is a late-ripening variety
