Barsaglina (Massaretta) RARE GRAPE red

Making extremely dark wines with refined tannins, Barsaglina is an Italian wine grape variety grown in Tuscany and Liguria and usually a minor component in blended wines.

Barsaglina was near extinction until a Tuscan wine producer, Paolo Storchi, help revive the variety by making it a significant component in a blend at Podere Scurtarola in Tuscany.

The wines are not overly complex but savory with reasonable levels of acidity.
