RARE GRAPE VARIETAL RESOURCE

The red grape variety comes from Georgia; the name means "Black of Asureti". Synonyms are Asuretuli, Schalltraube, Shadi Traube and Shala. The vine was found growing wildly by a German colonist named Schall around 1830 near the settlement Asureti in the region of Lower Kartlien, founded by Caucasian Germans, to which some synonyms refer.
