RARE GRAPE VARIETAL RESOURCE

Aleatico is an Italian wine grape variety, notably light in color and perfumed and the primary grape in the cult wine Aleatico di Portoferraio made in Elba. Originally found in Tuscany, it is now grown in southern Italy, Chile (Red Moscatel) and Mudgee, New South Wales in Australia.

Aleatico is often used to produce dessert wines. The grapes may be dried or the wines may be fortified in a liquoroso style.
